ReadEden Terms of Service
These Terms explain how you may use the ReadEden mobile application, an optional Account, sync, Premium and the public pages at readeden.com. You can save or print them from your browser.
1. Who provides ReadEden
ReadEden is provided by Easy Life Sp. z o.o., registered at Hoża 51, 00-681 Warsaw, Poland, entered in the Polish register of entrepreneurs under KRS 0000716356, tax ID NIP 1182164729 and REGON 369376133 ("ReadEden", "we", "us").
You can contact us at [email protected] or by post at the address above, marked "ReadEden".
2. Words used in these Terms
- Application means the ReadEden mobile application.
- Website means the public pages at readeden.com, including the Reading Room, information pages and legal documents.
- Account means an optional account used for online features, including the shared book catalogue.
- Premium means a paid, renewing subscription to the features shown before purchase.
- Public Content means book information, a cover photo or other content voluntarily submitted to the shared catalogue.
- User means a person aged 16 or over who uses ReadEden.
3. Age and parental permission
ReadEden is intended for people aged 16 or over. If the law where you live does not allow you to enter into the relevant agreement on your own, you may create an Account or purchase Premium only with permission from a parent or guardian where local law requires it.
When you first use ReadEden and when you register, you confirm that you are at least 16, accept these Terms and confirm that you have any parental or guardian permission required by law.
4. When our agreement begins
You can keep a local reading journal without an Account. The agreement for that feature begins when you first accept these Terms and start using the Application. The Account agreement begins when registration succeeds. The Premium agreement begins when your purchase is confirmed.
Merely browsing the public Website does not create an Account or subscription. The provisions concerning intellectual property, external links and commercial partnerships still apply to Website content.
5. What ReadEden offers
ReadEden lets you keep a reading journal, add books and sessions, record progress and notes, set goals, earn achievements, search book data and receive recommendations. An Account provides the option to contribute to the shared catalogue. Cloud backup and sync between supported devices are part of Premium. Regardless of an Account or Premium, your reading journal stays on your device, and in the app settings you can export it to a file and load it back.
Shared book discussions, messaging and social profiles are not part of the current service or Premium. If we launch them in the future, we will publish the relevant rules first.
6. Technical requirements
The Application requires a supported device and operating system version listed in the current Google Play or Apple App Store description, depending on where you obtained it.
An internet connection is required for registration, sync, payments, book search, recommendations and online content. Your local journal does not require a constant internet connection.
7. Account security and acceptable use
If you choose to create an Account, provide a valid email address, protect your password and do not share your Account. Contact us if you suspect unauthorised access.
You must not bypass security, disrupt ReadEden, access another person's data, use the service unlawfully, or automatically collect content in a way that burdens the service or infringes the rights of others.
8. Local data, sync and export
Without an Account, your journal stays only on your phone. It may be lost if the device fails, is lost or replaced, or if you uninstall the Application or clear its data. An Account is optional and reduces this risk through sync. You can also use export if you want an additional copy.
You can delete your Account and cloud data in Settings or by following Delete your account and data. Deleting the Account may not remove every local copy from every device.
9. Catalogues, recommendations and editorial content
Book data comes from sources including Open Library and the National Library of Poland. It may be incomplete, inaccurate or refer to a different edition. You can correct information in your own journal.
We display covers from Open Library with the source attribution required by that provider. A user-submitted photo may supplement the shared catalogue only when a suitable cover is missing from an external catalogue.
Recommendations are suggestions, not a promise that you will enjoy a book. Reading Room articles are editorial and informational. They are not offers to sell books. Our selection principles are explained on the How we recommend books page.
10. Content submitted to the shared catalogue
A photo selected without permission to publish remains private. If you want to submit it to the shared catalogue, you must separately select a permission that is off by default. Submit only your own photograph of a book, not someone else's image downloaded from the internet. You must have the right to upload the photo and permit its use as described below.
You must not submit unlawful or pornographic content, content that exploits minors, promotes violence or hatred, violates privacy or intellectual property rights, contains personal data unrelated to the book, constitutes advertising, or merely pretends to be a cover. Book information should relate to a real edition.
A moderator reviews the photo before it becomes public. We may reject, hide, replace or remove it if it violates these Terms, the law or another person's rights, or if it does not show the correct cover. Users can report content and block people whose Public Content they do not want to see. In cases of serious or repeated violations, we may prevent further submissions or restrict an Account.
You retain the rights in your photograph. By submitting it to the shared catalogue, you grant ReadEden a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to store, review, resize, crop, compress, display and technically distribute the photo within ReadEden. The licence is used only to operate the shared catalogue and ends when the photo is removed. You do not transfer ownership of the photograph to us.
You can ask us to remove your own photo at any time. When you delete your Account, photos awaiting review and private files are deleted. Approved photos are also selected for deletion by default. You may expressly choose to leave them in the catalogue without a link to your Account. If you do, the licence continues until the photo is later removed.
You can report content in the Application. You may appeal a decision concerning your Public Content by emailing [email protected]. A rights holder can use the same address to request removal, identifying the book, URL or other means of locating the content and explaining the basis of the request.
11. Premium, price and taxes
The basic version of ReadEden is free. Premium may include an expanded library view, additional themes, deeper statistics and a yearly recap. The binding scope, price, currency, billing period, taxes and any trial terms are shown before you confirm a purchase.
Easy Life Sp. z o.o. provides Premium. Google Play or the Apple App Store, depending on where you obtained the Application, supplies the distribution platform and processes payment under the rules applicable to the relevant country. Responsibility for calculating and remitting tax depends on the place of the transaction and the current rules of the relevant store.
The Application checks directly with the store from which it was obtained whether a subscription is active. The purchase identifier and subscription status received for this check remain on the device and are not sent to ReadEden servers. We do not keep our own purchase register.
A purchase is tied to the account used in the relevant store. You can restore it on supported devices using the same store account. A Google Play purchase does not transfer to the Apple App Store, and an Apple App Store purchase does not transfer to Google Play.
A monthly or yearly subscription renews automatically until cancelled. You manage it in the store where you bought it. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the Application or deleting your Account does not cancel a subscription.
When Premium ends, we do not delete or hide books already saved in your journal. You lose access to Premium features, and adding further books is subject to the limits of the current free version. Price changes to a renewing subscription will be communicated under the rules of the relevant store and applicable law.
12. Withdrawal, cancellation and refunds
If you are a consumer, you may have statutory withdrawal, cancellation or refund rights. Their scope depends on your country, the type of service and any consent given for immediate performance of a digital service. Consumers in the European Economic Area generally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract, subject to exceptions for digital services and content.
Cancellation or refund processing may take place through Google Play or the Apple App Store, depending on where you made the purchase. This does not limit rights you may have against us under mandatory law. You can also contact ReadEden about a Premium complaint.
13. Conformity, updates and complaints
We provide the digital service in conformity with our agreement and supply required updates, including security updates. If the service does not conform, you have the remedies required by the law applicable where you live.
Send a complaint to [email protected] or by post to the address in section 1. Describe the issue, device and Application version. Include your Account email only if it is relevant. We respond within the period required by applicable law.
14. Affiliate links and sponsored material
Some bookshop links are affiliate links. We may receive a commission if you buy after clicking, without changing your price. Paid material is labelled before the main content. Payment or commission does not guarantee a positive opinion or inclusion in the Reading Room.
15. Rights in ReadEden and your data
The Application, Website, our texts, graphics and interface belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use ReadEden under these Terms.
We do not take ownership of your private notes or reading data. We process them only as needed to provide the features you choose. Public Content is governed by the licence and rules in section 10.
16. Availability and liability
We work to keep ReadEden available and secure, but interruptions can result from maintenance, faults, suppliers or events outside our control. We are not responsible for the content or availability of external catalogues, shops or websites. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Restricting or deleting an Account
We may temporarily restrict access or the ability to submit content to protect security, repair a fault, enforce a block or investigate misuse. We may delete an Account for serious or repeated breaches of law, security or these Terms. Unless immediate action is necessary, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to respond first.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms because of changes in law, features, payment methods, technical requirements or security. For changes affecting an ongoing agreement, we will notify you by email or in the Application before they take effect, explaining the reason and date. If you do not accept a change, you may stop using the service before that date.
19. Governing law and disputes
Polish law applies. This does not take away mandatory consumer rights under the law of the country where you live. Courts have jurisdiction as provided by applicable law.
