Delete your account and data
This page is only for people who voluntarily created a ReadEden Account. If you use the Application without an Account, we do not keep your journal in the cloud and there is no Account to delete.
Deleting an Account is irreversible. We delete the login Account and the data synced to the cloud. You do not need to give a reason.
Fastest option: in the Application
- Open Settings.
- Select Delete Account.
- Review what will be deleted. If you have approved cover photos in the shared catalogue, you may expressly choose to leave them there without a link to your Account. We delete them by default.
- Confirm the request.
A request made from the signed-in Application lets us immediately verify that it concerns your Account.
If you cannot access the Application
Email [email protected] from the address used for your Account and enter “ReadEden account deletion” in the subject line. For security, we may ask for additional verification, but never for your password.
What we delete
- the Account and email address used to sign in,
- the synced journal: books, sessions, progress, goals, achievements and settings,
- private cover photos and photos awaiting moderation,
- approved cover photos, unless you expressly choose to leave them in the shared catalogue when deleting the Account,
- other files assigned to the Account, except information we must keep by law.
If you leave an approved photo, we detach it from the Account. The shared catalogue keeps the reduced file, the version of the licence you accepted and the date of acceptance. The photo is not publicly labelled with your email address or Account identifier. You can later request its removal by emailing [email protected]. A rights holder can use the same address to request removal of material.
We delete data from active systems without undue delay, normally within 30 days. Residual copies in rolling backups disappear when those backups are overwritten. See the Privacy Policy for details.
What remains on your phone
Deleting the Account may not delete the local journal from the device. Clear it separately in Settings or by uninstalling the Application.
Premium subscription
Deleting the Account does not cancel a subscription. If you have active Premium, cancel it separately in the store where you bought it: Google Play or the Apple App Store.
